1. The “Meta Proofing” Stage
- Audit your personal account: Ensure you are using your real-name personal account to manage the school page. (Avoid creating a “Work Profile” to stay out of “social media jail”!)
- Security check: Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your personal account to protect the school’s assets.
- The “Rule of Two”: Ensure at least two staff members have Full Control/Admin access to the Meta Business Suite.
- Connection check: If you are setting up a new account, do it from your home Wi-Fi rather than the school’s shared network to avoid being flagged as a bot.
2. The Legacy Audit
- Access levels: Identify who currently has access. Are there former staff members or governors who still have admin rights?
- Performance review: Scroll back through the last 3–6 months. Which posts got the most “Likes” or “Shares”?
- Community vibe: Check the comments and messages. How has the school typically responded to parents in the past?
3. Brand & Assets
- The Logo: Do you have a high-resolution version of the school logo (preferably a PNG with a transparent background)?
- Visual Consistency: Are the current cover photos and profile pictures up to date with the school’s latest branding?
- Tone of Voice: Is the current posting style formal and informative, or warm and celebratory? Does it match the school’s actual culture?
4. Strategy Prep
- Target Audience: Who are we talking to? (Prospective parents, current families, or the wider local community?)
- Consistency over Frequency: Can you realistically commit to 3 posts a week? It is better to be consistent than to post daily for a week and then go silent for a month.
- The “Wait” Rule: Unless there is an emergency or a pre-planned post, avoid “ploughing in” with new content until you have a basic 2-week plan in place.
